It was 2023 when a 90-year-old grandfather, a survivor of the wars in Artsakh, arrived at the “Meronts Tun” care center. He had been swept away by the storms of war and worn down by the blows of fate. Yet his spirit remained strong, and we realized that we had to help that spirit shine — not through counting the remaining days and years, but by creating a path for his wisdom to be shared, a treasure needed by the generations that will follow.

He had no home, no relatives who could support him, and no access to proper care. But he had one thing: the hope and the right to live his life and old age with dignity.

He was alone, vulnerable, carrying silently the suffering that often settles in the eyes of the elderly. That day became a turning point for us. We understood that we needed to move from occasional aid to finding fundamental solutions.
Meronts Hamar had to become a place that would not only provide care but would become a warm family for older people who, for various reasons, found themselves in difficult and hopeless social situations.

Today our vision is more than offering a helping hand.
We want to change attitudes and create an environment where older people live surrounded by love, attention, and care.
A place where no one is alone, where everyone feels at home.
A place where no one feels unnecessary, because they — these “storerooms of wisdom” — are valuable and needed.

Meronts Hamar was born not only from compassion but from belief — and we are ready to turn that belief into reality.
